Institute of Materials Science (IMS)

Research Interests:

Processing of nickel-based superalloys

Education:

M.S. in Materials Science, Stevens Institute of Technology

B.S. in Materials Science, South China University of Technology

Personal Bio:

Prior to joining Dr. Schaffoener’s research group in 2019, Jiyao focused
ceramic reinforced biomaterial research as a research assistant in University
of Connecticut, and worked on conductive cementitious material to prevent
concrete corrosion in South China University of Technology. He has also done
the research of rare earth ions activated phosphors as an undergraduate
student in China. The wide range of research helped him develop the interest
and lab skills in ceramics material, which he joins this group and will start to
work on high temperature materials. Jiyao is excited to continue his path as a
material scientist and engineer, and he is also looking forward to the work in
the field of refractory.
