Iwona Wrobel

Department of Materials Science and Engineering

Research Interest:

Evaluation of high-temperature composite behavior

Education:

B.S. In Materials Science and Engineering, University of Connecticut

Personal Bio:

Iwona joined Dr. Schaffoener’s research group in 2019 at the start of her graduate studies. She completed her undergraduate in Materials Science and Engineering at UConn. During her time as an undergraduate she interned at Collins Aerospace in the Material & Process Engineering lab. Her main tasks were to assist the research group in sample preparation of carbon-carbon composites and in material characterization. This experience has taught her a lot about industry processes and eventually led to her finding her passion for research focused on high temperature materials, specifically composites. Now she is a full time associate engineer at Collins Aerospace in the Research group. She works on evaluation of wear, thermal, and friction behaviors of composites for break and heat-sink applications. She is excited to further her understanding of these materials by continuing her education at UConn.
